Deposit is paid for site for new Castleisland Garda Station

The Office of Public Works has confirmed that a deposit has been paid to its solicitors as a down payment on the site of the proposed new Castleisland Garda Station. A “sold” sign is currently on display at the site and a spokesperson for the OPW says the sale is expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.It’s four years since a fire damaged the old Garda Station in the town and until now, Gardai have been working from temporary accommodation. The new building will be located on the Tralee Road in Castleisland but it’s not known how soon after the deal is completed before construction will begin.
