Decision on consultants strike to be taken next month

Consultants in the county may decide to strike next month if the row over insurance cover with The Department Of Health is not resolved according to The General Secretary of the Irish hospital Consultants Association. 18 Consultants from Kerry General and The Bons Secours hospitals met with their union last night to discuss what they say is a breach of their contract. The association has been dealing with The Department Of Health for the last two years on the issue of insurance cover for their members. The IHCA are claiming any consultant that is refused insurance by the MDU should be covered by the state. Members will meet next month to decide on a course of action.
