A decision on the development of a residential respite care centre for children in Blennerville has been deferred.

The Saoirse Foundation was granted conditional planning permission for the development at Curragraigue by Kerry County Council.

The foundation was founded by Tony and Mary Heffernan from Keel; their children Saoirse and Liam passed away from the rare Batten’s disease.

The plans have been appealed by two third parties to An Bord Pleanala which has due to make a decision on August 3rd; that has now been put back to October 6th.
