The Regional Chairman of Udaras Na gaeltachta in Donegal is describing moves to remove the requirement of Irish to join the Garda Siochana as a retrograde step. Speaking on this morning’s Kerry Today Brian O Domhnaill says this proposal is not in the national interest and is not constitutional. He says he welcomes Non Nationals to Ireland and into the Garda Siochana, but they should meet the minimum criteria interms of the Irish language.
