Credit Union PRO says Kerry credit unions are trading successfully

Credit unions in Kerry are trading successfully and prudently. Credit Union That’s according to the PRO of Chapter 23, the umbrella body for credit unions in Kerry and west Limerick. John O’Regan said that the takeover of Newbridge Credit Union by Permanent TSB was very disappointing but said that Newbridge is an exception. Reports today suggest that up to a quarter of credit unions nationally are in difficulty. But Chapter 23 says that credit unions locally are secure. Credit unions submit returns to the Financial Regulator quarterly and all credit unions are externally audited.
