The annual conference of the trade union which represents low paid civil servants gets under way in Killarney today.
The Civil Public and Services Union – the CPSU – represents 13 thousand members.
The CPSU annual delegate conference will set out the union’s agenda for public sector pay talks.
It says new employees it represents are struggling on minimum hourly rates of pay.
According to the CPSU, this is because of the impact of unpaid hours that staff have to work as a result of the Haddington Road Agreement.
The union says another factor is the lower entry points on the clerical officer pay scale.
The two-day conference is being held in the INEC, Killarney.
