County Council to review street cleaning services

The County Council is to undertake a review of all street cleaning services in Kerry. A number of towns and villages have five day cleaning and members are continuously appealing for a seven day service. However the Council has always argued that it`s too costly to continue the facility over the weekend`s right around the county. Many towns rely on a huge voluntary element as well as the council service. At this months meeting of Listowel Town Council members complained about dog fouling in the graveyard and increased rubbish at the local bottle bank. Last year 84,000 euro was spent on the councils seven day street cleaning service in Listowel. Councillor Jackie Barrett suggests people should clean up after themselves.
