County Council experience problems recruiting staff

The County Council is experiencing big problems recruiting planning staff. The difficulty means they’re having trouble compiling area plans for Kerry`s 87 towns and villages, only 3 have been prepared so far. The issue came to light last week after a decision by An Board Pleanala to reject a proposal for a hotel in Ballinskelligs because of the lack of an area plan. Chief Planner with Kerry County Council Tom Sheehey says they are continuing to advertise but the lack of planners is a nationwide problem.
