Pat Falvey has joined the Kerry Senior football backroom team. The Cork native and explorer has been appointed sports performance coach.

Meanwhile, the District Board Review Report was adopted. The committee concluded that one Board should be formed by the merging of St Brendan’s District Board and Tralee Town Board. A temporary Competitions Control Committee is to be appointed by Tralee Town Board and St. Brendan’s Board on a trial period of 3 years to facilitate a more streamlined fixtures programme for the clubs affiliated to the 2 Divisional Boards. Further discussions are to take place between Templenoe and the South Kerry Board in relation to the proposal to admit Templenoe as full members of the Board. The committee has facilitated the addition of Kenmare Shamrocks, Kilgarvan and Tuosist as full affiliated members of the East Kerry Board. The participation of Kenmare District teams in all Championships, Senior and Under Age, is to continue as heretofore. The Committee recommends that to help in the running of a more structured and timely system of competition District Boards should ideally be comprised of or as near to 8 or 16 affiliated clubs. District Board Championships at Senior level should ideally start no later than 2 weeks after the last team of the District is knocked out of the County Senior Football Championship.

Also, the permission to play document was approved with 2 exceptions. For Ballyheigue and Abbeydorney hurlers who wish to play football the status quo remains. One of the approved Permissions To Play required a vote,
which was subsequently carried; that Churchill footballers have access to both St. Brendan’s and Tralee Parnells in hurling.

Finally, all central council delegates will attend virtual congress and Tim Murphy is the Kerry representative at virtual congress next weekend. There’s only one attendee per county in addition to central council.
