Councillors dissatisfied at high turnover of chief superintendents in Kerry

Councillors have voiced their dissatisfaction at the turnover of chief superintendents in Kerry.

Chairperson of the Joint Policing Committee, Councillor Niall Kelleher, welcomed the new Chief Superintendent of the Kerry Garda Division at the recent meeting.

Councillor Kelleher says, while Chief Superintendent Eileen Foster is very welcome to the county, she’s the fifth person to have held the post during his time as chairperson.

Councillor Donal Grady is also highlighting the high turnover; he feels the county needs someone to hold the position for a considerable amount of time in an effort to bring stability to An Garda Siochana.

Chief Superintendent Foster says she can appreciate the councillors’ worries, however, she claims she—and other chief superintendents—are at the beck and call of the Garda Commissioner Drew Harris.
