A Kerry councillor says someone will be killed if emergency safety measures are not introduced at local viewing sites.

Councillor Michael Cahill is calling on Fáilte Ireland and Transport Infrastructure Ireland to introduce such measures at Mountain Stage, Glenbeigh and Kells Bay.

The calls come following a number of accidents and several near misses at the locations, according to the Fianna Fáil politician.

Cllr Cahill says he regularly receives complaints and wants both Fáilte Ireland and the TII to examine the area and put adequate health and safety measures in place.
