Councillor Pa Daly has been selected as Sinn Féin’s candidate for the next general election.
At the Kerry Sinn Féin Convention last night, Councillor Daly was selected by the membership to go forward as the party’s next general election candidate; he was nominated by a number of cumainn in the county.
The convention was being held as a result of the announcement by Deputy Martin Ferris that he would not be seeking a nomination, coupled with his daughter, Toiréasa Ferris, retiring from politics.
Councillor Pa Daly was the only name put forward by the membership in the county.
Following the selection, the Tralee-based solicitor thanked all those who supported him and said it was a great privilege to be selected to represent the party in the next general election.
Sinn Féin Finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty was guest speaker on the night.
It’s been announced that former Tralee Town Councillor Cathal Foley will replace Toiréasa Ferris on Kerry County Council.
Cathal Foley lives in Tralee and works as Parliamentary Assistant to Martin Ferris TD.
He formerly served three terms on Tralee Town Council.
