Councillor Moriarty says Kerry risks losing an entire generation due to excessive cost of housing

Kerry risks losing an entire generation of young people due to the excessive cost of housing.

That’s the view of Fianna Fáil councillor Norma Moriarty.

Ms Moriarty says it is getting more difficult for young people, especially couples, to secure affordable accommodation.

Her comments follow the latest report which shows the average rent in Kerry is now over €760 per month.

The Fianna Fáil councillor says there is a severe shortage of affordable housing options.

Ms Moriarty says the lack of housing is driving young people out of Kerry which could result in the loss of an entire generation.

She is calling on more houses to be built to cater for the demand.
