Councillor calls for management plan for individual beaches

Councillor Michael Cahill says he doesn`t believe the beach by laws recently adopted by the council go far enough to deal with problems on the county`s beaches. The Fianna Fail Councillor claims that the wider issue of Travellers blocking entrances into beaches should be addressed. He says there is nothing in the by laws to address this and so voted against their adoption. Councillor Cahill is calling for a management plan to be drawn up that would cater for each individual beach. However Michael O Coillean is with the environment section of Kerry County Council. He says introducing laws to regulate the activities of certain sections of society would be wrong.
