A dedicated clean-up day of Kerry’s rivers, lakes and oceans would help prevent littering and enhance local amenities.
That’s according to Councillor Michael Gleeson, who has urged Kerry County Council to organise a dedicated River Bank and Lake Shore clean-up day.
Mr Gleeson says the recent IBAL survey shows that littering is having a very serious impact on our rivers, lakes and oceans.
He adds that the level of damage caused will have an adverse effect on many forms of wildlife as well as on fishing and tourism industries.
Kerry County Council has agreed to examine the possibility of organising such an initiative.
