Council says no funding for footbridge at Milltown Bridge in Dingle

Kerry County Council says there’s no funding available to erect a footbridge at Milltown Bridge in Dingle.

The council was responding to Cllr Seamus Cosaí Fitzgerald, who asked them to explore the possibility of getting funding for the footbridge at the scenic stone bridge, which provides the main access point for traffic to the R551 Slea Head Drive towards Ventry.

The local authority says there’s no funding stream available to them at present, but the project will be considered should a suitable source of funding become available.

A public meeting was held in Dingle recently on the proposed erection of a footbridge, where a five-person working group was appointed with a view to coming up with a design objective and proposal.
