Council says emergency service vehicles able to access pedestrianised areas

Kerry County Council says emergency service vehicles are able to access the Mall and the Square in Tralee at all times.

The Mall area, including the Square, is a pedestrian only zone between 10:30 am and 6pm, 7 days a week.

Radio Kerry received a number of queries regarding accessibility of emergency service vehicles to areas of Tralee pedestrianised during particular hours of the day.

The Mall area of the town, including the Square, are pedestrianised for seven-and-a-half hours daily.

Kerry County Council has told Radio Kerry News that if there’s an accident or another serious incident, there’s an arrangement in place with the emergency services.

This arrangement allows for the immediate removal of bollards at the Mall.

The council also says Gardaí as well as the fire and ambulance services have been issued with keys for the Square.
