Council refuses planning permission for two telecommunications masts in north and south Kerry

Two telecommunications masts proposed for sites in north and south Kerry have been refused planning permission by Kerry County Council. broadcast tower mast Vodafone Ireland Ltd sought permission to erect a 30 metre mast at Tullig Kilflynn, and an 18 metre mast at Dereenanaryagh, Glencar. Both masts were refused planning permission due to the one kilometre rule. The one kilometre rule as contained in the Kerry County Development Plan 2009 – 2015 means telecommunications masts shall not be located within one kilometre of residential properties, schools, hospitals, or any structures where there is human occupancy . The one kilometre rule has been removed from the new county development plan which runs until 2021.
