Council receives €676,000 under amnesty for second home tax

Kerry County Council has received almost €700,000 in payments during an amnesty period introduced for the payment of the so-called second home tax. KCC logo Ahead of an amnesty deadline to allow people who haven’t paid the Non-Principal Private Residence tax, €676,000 has been paid to Kerry County Council. The NPPR was introduced five years ago and was initially a flat fee of €200 but those who haven’t paid incur high penalties. According to the Irish Independent, which published the figures, the owner of property that was liable for the tax for the past five years, and who hasn’t paid, now owes €4,220. The amnesty for those who haven’t paid the tax ends on September 1st.
