Kerry County Council is preparing tender documents for a new contract for maintaining public lights.
That’s according to Director of Services, Charlie O’Sullivan.
He was speaking after several councillors raised issues at the county council meeting about public lights not being repaired for long periods of time, and of councillors not being able to get correspondence from the council about problems they’ve raised.
Independent Cllr Brendan Cronin said he’s reported a problem where people are waiting a year and a half for lights to be fixed.
Charlie O’Sullivan said the local authority has contracts in place with two existing suppliers, and they’re preparing a tender for a new contract.
