Kerry County Council is advising road users to expect poor conditions on all routes this morning as heavy rain and winds continue to batter the county.

A status orange weather alert from Met Eireann for rain remains in place until 9pm and there are reports of spot flooding and surface water in all areas.

A yellow wind warning bringing gusts up to 110 kilometres per hour is in place until 6pm.

The R569 road at Cahir National School has been closed by Kerry County Council as it is impassable due to flooding.

The council says the N72 road at Fossa Church is impassable and should be avoided until further notice.

Flooding is reported on L3009 between Finnegan's Cross and Lawlors Cross and from Lawlors Cross to Ballyhar.

Roads around Beaufort, Kilgobnet and the Board of Works road are flooded at the moment- drive with extreme caution.

Tralee Gardaí say there is flooding on the Tralee to Ardfert road near Ballyroe Heights Hotel.
