Council may compulsorily purchase Dingle site

The Council will compulsorily purchase the site of The old Dingle boatyard on the waterfront if the owners do not clean it up. They have estimated the cost to be in the region of 300,000 euro. In an attempt to get the site cleaned up a levy of 9,000 euro has been imposed on seven different parties. The charge will be imposed annually unless the owners take action. The site has been derelict for around 10 years and a complicated title structure is believed to be one of the barriers to getting it developed. The owners have three months to make a decision and if nothing happens the Council will compulsorily purchase the site.
