Council aims to tackle Tralee eyesore in short term

Tralee Town Council   Tralee Town councillors have called for immediate action for one of the town’s worst eyesores. The parcel of land between Boherbee and John Joe Sheehy road was sold by the council to a developer but those plans never materialised. The site which was surrounding by hoardings, is on the main entrance to the town and is in recievership.   The blue hoardings were destroyed in the recent storms. Tralee Town Council have placed the land on the derelict sites register. Tralee town planner Victoria McCarthy said she had met the buyer of the site for a pre planning meeting as he wishes to develop it. She said she was concerned at the level of dumping at the site. Tralee Town Clerk Michael Scannell said they had bid for the site they formerly owned but were unsuccessful. Councillors said the site needs immediate action and that in its current condition it is undermining the hard work of the local Tidy Towns volunteers. Mr Scannell said the authority would keep on top of it adding it is a priority site to get sorted in the short term.
