Convicted UK sex offender moved from South Kerry after past came to light

A convicted sex offender from the UK has moved from South Kerry after details of his past came to light.

The man was convicted and jailed in Leeds in 2014 after pleading guilty to a number of sexual offences.

He had showed indecent footage on his phone to three 12-year-old girls, was found to have more than 7,000 indecent images on computers, and had contacted minors on internet chat rooms.

The man had been living and working in South Kerry for the past two years, but has now moved.

Waterville Cllr Norma Moriarty says vigilantism doesn’t work; she believes this incident shows that the sex offender register system works as gardaí had been monitoring the man.
