Contracts are signed for Palliative Care Unit at Kerry General Hospital

Contracts have been signed for the building of a Palliative Care Unit in the grounds of Kerry General Hospital. The unit will provide essential day care facilities for cancer sufferers and their families, and will be a vital back up to the present hospital and home care services. The unit, which will cost over 3 million euro, has been primarily funded by the people of Kerry through the Kerry Hospice Foundation. The Health Service Executive has also contributed half a million euro. It’s hoped that work will begin this month and will be completed by the end of 2006.
