There are continued calls for the council to address the issues of traffic congestion in Killarney town.
Independent councillor Maura Healy-Rae says traffic delays are a daily occurrence in the town, despite the fact that the season has been deemed quieter locally.
At the recent Killarney MD meeting, she said the outer bypass is crucial but the link from Lissivigeen to Muckross is just as critical.
Kerry County Council says it is in the process of procuring consultants to take the N22 Farranfore to Killarney scheme through the statutory process; adding this outer bypass for Killarney Town will alleviate the traffic congestion along the current N22 bypass.
The council is also seeking agreement from Transport Infrastructure Ireland to upgrade the N22 junctions such as Aghadoe, Lewis Road, Ballycasheen and Coolcaslagh, adding theses upgrade works will assist in the traffic flow.
The construction of the Muckross Road Safety Scheme will assist the traffic congestion at the Haha/Kenmare Place Mission Road Junction, according to the council.
KCC is also awaiting a final meeting with Transport Infrastructure Ireland to finalise the final draft submitted and to receive approval to proceed to the next phase of the project; the council is targeting to have the Part 8 process commenced in quarter 4 for this year.
