Connacht Hit By Injuries Ahead Of European Outing

Connacht have issued a gloomy medical update on their walking wounded ahead of this Friday’s European Challenge Cup match against Newcastle. Last Friday’s loss to the Cardiff Blues has proved to be a costly one after Craig Ronaldson, Kieran Marmion, Eoin McKeon, Quinn Roux, Darragh Leader and Ian Porter all suffered injuries during the game. Ronaldson and Marmion will both have to follow the return-to-play protocols for concussion while Porter is still hopeful of being available this Friday despite an ankle ligament sprain. However, McKeon, Leader and Roux are all facing lengthy lay-offs while there is also question marks over the availability this week of Bundee Aki, John Muldoon and Ronan Loughney. In a further blow, second-row Ben Marshall has re-fractured his forearm in training and is facing another three months on the sidelines.
