The deceased man, named as Andrew Fleming from Dunmore in Co Galway, was part of a team working on an ESB Networks project laying a 220-kilovolt cable from Kilpaddoge to Knockanure.

It's understood the incident involved a construction vehicle.

Emergency services, including Gardaí, ambulance and fire service personnel, attended the scene.
