Concern expressed by bank officials about farmer protests

The Irish Bank Officials Association says it has has heard some concerns from members in connection with recent farmer protests. The IFA have picketed Bank of Ireland branches in the county since October, in an effort to get bank of Ireland to contribute to a hardship fund for creditors affected by the close of Tralee Beef and Lamb.Larry Broderick of the IBOA says their policy in such situations is to try to avoid staff from being used as pawns. He says the responsibility lies on all sides of the dispute to facilitate and resolve issues. Meanwhile a protest organised for outside Bank of Ireland in Tralee today was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
