Company behind planned liquefied natural gas terminal in North Kerry want to scale back project

The company behind a planned €500m liquefied natural gas terminal in North Kerry want to scale back the project.

A report in today’s Irish Independent states the company wants to reduce the footprint of the project which would be built in Tarbert.

Shannon LNG says these changes would result in fewer onshore facilities and equipment, and the omission of four onshore storage tanks.

The High Court recently referred a number of questions to the European Court of Justice relating to a five-year extension of planning permission for the LNG terminal on the Shannon Estuary.

It is believed Shannon LNG have entered into a pre-application consultation with An Bord Pleanála.
