Closing statements will be heard this morning in the trial of a man charged with possession of €39,000 worth of drugs outside Tralee.
Maciej Masznicz of Red House, Knocknaclogher, Ballyroe, Tralee, has pleaded not guilty to four charges of possession of cannabis and methylamphetamine and one charge of the unlicensed possession of a firearm on 18th February, 2015.
It’s the prosecution’s case that Mr Masznicz had full knowledge and control of €39,000 worth of cannabis and methylamphetamine.
During a search of his property by gardaí, the accused admitted to possession of a small quantity of cannabis for personal use, however, he denies having any knowledge of large quantities which were allegedly found in his sheds.
During cross-examination, Mr Masznicz said he did not recognise the packaging in which the drugs were found, nor did he know how the drugs got onto his property.
The accused added he’s never dealt with large quantities, as all he could afford was a ’50 bag’.
Closing statements and the judge’s charge will be heard this morning in Tralee Circuit Court under Judge Tom O’Donnell.
