A Kerry County Councillor has claimed that a ring road for Killorglin is as important as the bypass for Macroom.

Sinn Fein Councillor Damian Quigg called on Kerry County Council to seek a deputation with Transport Infrastructure Ireland to discuss the ring road and a second bridge for the town.

At the monthly meeting of the local authority, Cllr Quigg hit back at comments made recently that people in the town don’t want the road and said people need to be careful with the language they choose.

Cllr Quigg said parts of the masterplan for Killorglin would be impossible without the ring road and if it doesn’t go ahead it would be detrimental to the town.
