Cllr Maeve Spring retires from politics in North Kerry.

Cllr Maeve Spring is to close the door on sixty years of Spring involvement in politics in North Kerry after announcing her decision to retire for personal reasons. A statement from party leader Pat Rabbitte announced her intention not to seek re election in June. Maeve Spring has served on Kerry County Council since 1985 and Tralee Town Council since 1991.Her father Dan was first elected to Dail Eireann in 1943, and Cllr Spring has spent the last 20 years working for the party in North Kerry. The Labour party chairman in North Kerry, Donal Tobin says her decision to retire marks the end of an era. He says he regrets her decision not to run but understands her reasons.
