A group has been formed in Ballyheigue to give voice to people's concerns regarding anti-social behaviour, after a number of incidents in recent weeks.
These include youths congregating in breach of COVID-19 restrictions, a girl being shot with a pellet gun, traffic cones being thrown onto the road, eggs and stones being thrown at people and sand dunes being set alight.
Last week, community activist Risteárd Ó Fuaráin confronted a group in Dolly’s Green; later that night, he and others had to quench a fire in the park that was lit using nearby cardboard left out for recycling.
The first meeting of the group is taking place this evening in Ballyheigue, with pre-registration required due to restrictions.
Risteárd Ó Fuaráin says there have been a large number of anti-social incidents.
