Claims Colm Cooper won’t contest upcoming General Election

Former Kerry All Ireland medallist Colm Cooper won’t run for Fine Gael in the upcoming General Election.

That’s according to the Sunday Business Post which quotes a senior Fine Gael source who admitted defeat in their effort to get Mr. Cooper on the ticket.

Fine Gael had been hoping they would run with Sports Minister, Brendan Griffin, for a seat in the 5-seater constituency.

35-year-old Colm Cooper’s late father Michael was a former chairman of the local party branch in Killarney.
