There will be special collections in Catholic churches throughout the Diocese of Kerry this weekend for the victims of the Phillippines typhoon. The diocese says the collections for aid agency Trócaire will go to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan as well as to the Syrian people. Originally, this weekend’s collection was planned to help the people of Syria. That country’s civil war has resulted in the deaths of over 120 thousand people while millions have been forced to flee their homes. But given the humanitarian crisis in the Phillippines, the collection will now benefit victims in both countries.
