While Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich have forced a replay with Southampton – it finished 1-apiece at St. Mary’s. Earlier, QPR became the first Premier League club to lose to lower league opposition in this season’s FA Cup, going down 3-0 at home to League One’s Sheffield United. There was no fairytale at the Crabble Athletic Ground, where Crystal Palace beat Dover 4-0 – Kevin Doyle rounded off the scoring there. While Sunderland are safely through to round 4 – Patrick Van Aanholt got the goal in a 1-0 defeat of Leeds. Aberdeen are four points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship. The Dons were 2-0 winners away to Motherwell, with Adam Rooney getting both goals. Hamilton pulled level with second placed Celtic with a 1-nil win at St. Johnstone. Dundee United missed the chance to take outright second place as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Partick.
