The Charities Regulator is not making any comment in relation to a Kerry animal charity, that was the subject of a TV investigation.
The regulator said it had identified a number of issues regarding governance and financial management at Animal Heaven Animal Rescue.
In January, Animal Heaven Animal Rescue was the subject of an RTÉ Investigates report which uncovered significant corporate governance problems and misleading fundraising at the charity; a follow up report has been posted on the RTE website.
AHAR’s trustees were obliged to take immediate steps to ensure proper books were maintained and that procedures were introduced.
The Castleisland charity had a number of weeks to comply with these obligations.
The Charities Regulator won’t say if these obligations have been met, it says it doesn’t generally comment on its regulatory work as to do so may prejudice due process and the outcome of its work.
AHAR has said it’s been actively working with the Charities Regulator since last April in relation to compliance, and said that last year, it identified and addressed failings with committee paperwork.
