Kerry County Council may have online parking meters available in Killarney for the summer season.
Councillor Brendan Cronin brought a motion to the recent monthly meeting of the Killarney Municipal District, asking for an update on the replacement of antiquated parking meters in the town.
The council says a preferred tenderer has been identified and it’s envisaged there will be a 12-week lead in to the delivery of the new machines, which will have credit card facilities.
Councillors had called for the introduction of cashless or online payment options for some time in Killarney.
The council says a further tender will be developed early this year the provision of online payment options.
