Calls to reduce speed limit in Glenflesk referred to Transport Infrastructure Ireland

Calls to reduce the speed limit in Glenflesk have been referred to Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

Cllr Maura Healy-Rae raised the issue at the recent Kerry County Council meeting, calling for the local authority to reduce the speed limit in Glenflesk village.

The Independent Cllr also asked what was being done to improve the safety of the pedestrian crossing, following the death of a young woman there last year.

Kerry County Council is currently preparing Road Traffic Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws for the county.

They say following a recent public consultation, amendments were proposed to speed limits on the national road network, and these have been referred to Transport Infrastructure Ireland for consent.

The bye-laws will then be brought before councillors for adoption.
