A Fine Gael Councillor is calling on the Government and HSE to supply funding to operate a house for respite care in North Kerry.
It follows a public meeting involving Kerry Parents and Friends on Thursday night to discuss respite care in the county.
In particular, a 4-bedroom house in Listowel was discussed which was to be used for respite care but which funding is not available to operate.
According to Cllr Mike Kennelly there are only 12 beds available to Kerry Parents and Friends families across the county currently.
The Five Kerry TDs are to meet with Minister Finian McGrath on Tuesday to discuss respite care in the county.
