Calls for government to speed up funding for respite services at St Mary of the Angels Beaufort

A Kerry TD has called on the government to speed up funding for respite services at St Mary of the Angels in Beaufort.

Independent Deputy Danny Healy-Rae raised the issue in the Dáil asking why the facility for people with mental and physical disabilities isn’t being allowed to continue to provide respite care for parents, who he says are worn out.

He says Minister of State Finian McGrath had travelled to the county and announced he had secured funding to address the issue, but it hasn’t reach Kerry.

Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe said he wasn’t able to give an update on the supply of funding, and called on Deputy Healy-Rae to raise the matter directly with Minister of State Finian McGrath.
