Calls for grants to build in isolated rural areas

The Irish Farmers Association in Kerry has called for a grant to be made available to those who want to build in isolated, rural areas. The call comes following a meeting between the farmers lobby group and the County Manager Martin Riordan. Planning was one of the main issues discussed at the meeting and the IFA delegation stressed to The Manager the need to speed up the whole planning process. IFA County Chairman Flor McCarthy says instead of putting obstacles in peoples’ way they should be encouraged to live in the countryside.
