Calls for casual trading in Kenmare to be regulated.

A call has been made for the regulation of casual trading in Kenmare. Its understood there`s been a sizeable increase in the number of casual traders in the town. This increase has come about as a result of a loophole in the law that allows street traders to operate in different parts of Kenmare and not just in designated street trading areas. In August of 2002 the council received 6,500 euro in fees, however last August the traders did not pay any fees because of the loophole. Terry O Doherty, President of the Chamber of Commerce in Kenmare says some traders do add to the town. However there can not be a free for all.
