There’s a call for Kerry’s largest cemetery to be open for vehicular access this Christmas.
Cllr Norma Foley says the gates at Rath Cemetery where cars can drive in were closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and St Stephen’s Day last year.
She says this caused horrendous trauma for a huge amount of people with mobility issues who wanted to visit the graves of loved one; they were unable to without car access.
The Fianna Fáil Cllr called for this to be changed this Christmas.
Council management reiterated it was car accessibility only that was an issue, that the cemetery was open those days, and they’ll take the concerns into consideration.
