There’s a call for Cahersiveen’s town boundary to be extended to encourage more people to live there.

That’s according to Jack Fitzpatrick of Cahersiveen Community and Business Alliance, which has made a submission on the issues papers for the new draft county development plan.

Mr Fitzpatrick says extending the town boundary would encourage more development of residential and holiday homes, which would be a boost for the town.

Meanwhile Castleisland Chamber Alliance is calling for the regeneration of town centre.

They want more enforcement of dereliction orders, and would like to see promotion of supports for residential development over shops on the Main Street.

Michael J Kearney of Castleisland Chamber says they also want a focus on developing the space to the rear of the Main Street from Mart Lane to the Ríocht and rugby club complex.
