Call for clarification on tourists travelling to Ireland for hunting and shooting

There’s a call for Government agencies to explain the regulations in place for tourists who travel to Ireland for hunting and shooting.

Cllr Dan McCarthy made the call at the recent meeting of Kerry County Council; he asked that the local authority seek clarification.

Last December it was claimed that licences to shoot red deer had been sold illegally onto US hunters, and that one American had paid €5,000 for what he had thought was a legitimate licence.

Last month Gardaí said it’s not been possible to investigate these claims, as they need people to come forward with specific allegations.
