Busy year for Kerry Fire Services

It’s been an extremely busy year for the fire services in Kerry. In total, the county’s fire fighters were called out to 82 house fires over an 18-month period. According to a spokesman for the service, the number of chimney fires increased significantly during 2013 also. FireTimothy Kelliher of the Kerry Fire and Rescue Service, appealed to Kerry householders to clean their chimneys at least twice a year. He also appealed to the public to be mindful about potential fire hazards in their homes around Christmas, which include unattended candles, faulty decorations, and even the traditional placing of cards on a mantelpiece over a fire place: audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/16663/medium/”]
