Business incubation unit expected at Institute of Technology

A two point three million business incubation unit is expected to be opened at the Institute of Technology in Tralee by early December. Construction on the 12,000 square foot facility at the college campus in Dromtacker is almost complete. It will hold 21 units aimed at start up companies. According to Henry Lyons Head of Development at the college the units will be targeted at technology based industry and knowledge based enterprises.They will be a range of sizes and can be adapted to suit each businesses needs. They will have access to the facilities at the college and the expertise of other entrepreneurs at the technology park. The project has received 90 per cent funding from Enterprise Ireland the remainder of the money has been raised locally through sponsorship. Mr Lyons says they are in the process of recruiting a manager to run the facility.
