Bus Eireann criticises South Kerry operators

Bus Eireann Spokesman Cyril McIntyre says the actions taken by 11 bus operators in South Kerry is irresponsible. Bus Eireann says they are doing all they can to provide alternative transport for the hundreds of school children who have been left stranded over a pay dispute between bus operators and the company. The eleven private bus operators in the Iveragh Peninsula withdrew from their contracts with Bus Eireann because they want a 10% pay increase. Cyril McIntyre says their move has left a lot of families inconvenienced. A principal of one of the schools affected says parents cannot continue to make alternative arrangements for their children. Mary Murphy of Foilmoire National School says parents depend on the service to get their children to school.
